A registered Chinese trademark is valid for ten years from its registration date. To keep it, the owner must file a renewal with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) within the twelve months before the expiry date. If that window slips, there is a six-month grace period after expiry — a late surcharge applies, but the registration can still be saved. Once the grace period passes, the registration is cancelled and cannot be restored.
Renewal is per class: each class of the registration is renewed separately and the fee is per class. Each renewal adds a further ten years, counted from the day after the previous term ends — so your renewal dates stay aligned with the original registration.
A foreign owner without a business presence in China cannot file the renewal directly. It must be submitted through an agent registered with the CNIPA, which is what we are. We handle the whole renewal in English — you send the certificate details, sign one form, and we do the rest.
All fees are per class and quoted in writing before anything is payable.
| Item | Fee | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Standard renewal | USD 199 / class | Filed within the 12-month window before expiry. All-inclusive. |
| Late renewal (grace period) | USD 199 / class + surcharge | Filed up to 6 months after expiry; the late surcharge is included in the written quote we send you first. |
| Registrant name or address changed | USD 50 | A change of registrant details is a separate recording filed before the renewal, because the renewal must be in the current registered name. |
Four things, and most owners already have the first one on file. Nothing has to be notarized and nothing has to be sent by post — clean scans are enough.
Send us the registration number and we will confirm the expiry date, check your registrant details and quote the renewal in writing. Nothing is payable before you approve.
